Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the book Indian Knowledge Systems.

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan presented a book on Indian Knowledge Systems.

Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, presented a textbook called “Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems: Concepts and Applications” on Monday. The Indian Knowledge System now has an academic structure thanks to this book. He discussed Indian knowledge, culture, philosophy, and spirituality’s global impact.

He lectured about the old Indian culture and how it influenced the world for the better. He remarked that our historic legacy is rich with treasures that need to be protected, documented, and promoted, referring to the Vedas, Upanishads, and other Indian classics. He also discussed several examples of ancient Indian science-based techniques and knowledge that are still applicable in the present world.

DECOLONIZATION OF THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Indian education system is being decolonized, according to the Minister. While we should embrace the positive aspects of our ancient past, we must also be aware of our society’s challenges and work for a future that integrates past and present knowledge.

Furthermore, the New Education Policy (NEP) has established a clear path for incorporating IKS into higher education curricula, mandating the publication of a book like this in the near future in various higher education institutions across the country.

Despite the fact that the book was primarily produced by engineering institutions, the structure and contents are easily adaptable to meet the needs of various university systems (Liberal Arts, Medicine, Science, and Management).

BENEFITS OF THE INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM
Students will be able to bridge the gap between traditional and modern education systems by using the newly released IKS textbook to link with the past, develop a holistic scientific temperament, and use it to conduct transdisciplinary research and innovation.
