ICSE, ISC students can now choose not to appear for board exams, opt for internal assessment.

ICSE and ISC students can now choose to not appear for the CISCE class 10 and class 12 board exams due to the Covid-19 pandemic still raging in India and instead opt to be evaluated on the basis of internal assessments. The last date to send in choices is June 22.
As per the ICSE exam latest news in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, the CISCE has notified that students all across India and abroad can now choose not to appear for the pending ICSE board exams or the ISC board exams and instead get evaluated on the basis of internal assessment marks.

The ICSE and ISC board exams had been postponed in March due to the Covid-19 lockdown and was scheduled for July.

The Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) board on Monday informed the decision to the Bombay High Court on Monday while at a hearing of a petition filed by city resident Arvind Tiwari who was challenging the ICSE board exams scheduled to be held from July 2 across Maharashtra because it has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.

The state of Maharashtra has 226 ICSE board schools and a total of 23,347 students are scheduled to appear for the ICSE board exams for class 10.

What did the petition say?
The petition field by Arvind Tiwari stated that due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in the state, it would be it would be best if ICSE board exam results were declared on the basis of gradation and assessment of past performance in internal exams in the ISCE schools.

The Maharashtra government has also stated before that holding exams in the current pandemic situation was not viable.

The bench, after perusing the board’s decision, posted the matter for further hearing on Wednesday.

What did the ICSE board say?
The ICSE board said all affiliated schools in the country would be notified about this decision after which schools would need to contact the ICSE class 10 students and ISC class 12 students to make a note of their choices as to whether they wanted to appear for the board exams or if they wanted to be evaluated on the basis of internal assessment.
