15,000 model schools to come up in India, one in each block: Dharmendra Pradhan
While laying the foundation stone for Kendriya Vidyalaya on the IIT Bhubaneswar campus, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that 15,000 model schools will come up in India, one in each block.
Under PM Shri School Yojana, the Centre has decided to open model schools in each and every block of the country. In this process, a total of 15,000 model schools will be opened in the country and Odisha will get over 500 such schools, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said while inaugurating a new Kendriya Vidyalaya at the IIT Bhubaneswar campus.
He further said any state government school, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ekalavya Vidyalaya, or Navodaya Vidyalaya can be converted into a model school. The schools will be set up under the direct supervision of the Modi government to provide quality education to the students.
IIT Bhubaneswar Kendriya Vidyalaya would be ranked as the 66th Kendriya Vidyalaya in the state. The overall education plan will cost Rs 3 lakh crore over the next four years under Samagrika Siksha Yojana and the Government of India will take steps to improve the quality of education in the country, including Odisha, he said.
The students of these schools will be extended special education by the government.
He was speaking after performing ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ (foundation stone laying ceremony) of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) on the IIT Bhubaneswar campus.
ABOUT THE NEW KV IN THE IIT BHUBANESHWAR CAMPUS
“The school will play a key role in enhancing access to quality education and fulfilling regional aspirations. The KV at the prestigious IIT Bhubaneswar will also provide a conducive environment for students to dream big,” tweeted Pradhan.
He added that in the next phase, Kendriya Vidyalaya would be relocated after the construction of permanent classrooms in a 10-acre plot of land provided by IIT Bhubaneswar, with an estimated budget of Rs 25 crore.
“IIT Bhubaneswar is a prestigious institution in the field of higher education. In this conducive environment, Kendriya Vidyalaya students will study and also learn the use of technology. As a result, children will dream like the former president and great scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the union education minister said.
As of now, the KV at the IIT will run from a temporary building and will admit students of Classes 1 to 5 from the current education year.
Besides the children of professors, assistant professors, and employees of IIT, the children of the state and central government employees and local residents will have a chance to read.
NEW SYSTEM FOR TEACHERS
Notably, in the recent past, a new system has been introduced for teachers under the National Education Policy.
A pilot model of the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) will be launched this year to provide appropriate training to teachers.
This will increase the efficiency of the teachers and the overall development of the students.
