Lt Governor’s Allegations An “Insult” To Teachers Of Delhi: Manish Sisodia
NEW DELHI: Delhi On Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia reacted angrily to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, accusing him of “mocking” the teachers employed in the nation’s capital and levelling “false claims” against the education division.
Mr. Sisodia said in a letter to Mr. Saxena that the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Friday letter from the LG to him was written with political intent and that his “false claims” against the education department were a “insult” to Delhi’s students and teachers.
“With a political agenda, the LG claimed that no work had been done at Delhi’s education department in his letter. His claims are offensive to Delhi’s students and educators. I’m asking the LG to refrain from disparaging our teachers’ efforts, who have made great strides in the department “The education portfolio is also held by Mr. Sisodia, who wrote to Mr. Saxena.
The LG attempted to cast doubt on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in Delhi by bringing up a number of concerns with the city’s educational system in his letter to Mr. Kejriwal on Friday.
According to him, the average enrollment in public schools has been declining annually, from 70.73 percent in 2012–2013 to 60.65 percent in 2019–2020. He also disputed the AAP administration’s assertions regarding pupils transferring from private to public schools.
In response to the claim, Mr. Sisodia stated that the Delhi government-run schools had a pass percentage of 99.6 and had a high percentage of kids who received good grades.
“Writing a letter containing bogus figures does not suit a person sitting in the chair of the lieutenant governor,” he stated.
The deputy chief minister claimed that the LG’s data were inaccurate and that his comments “defamed” the whole school system in the national capital.
“While the LG claimed that there were 16 lakh fewer pupils in Delhi’s government schools than there were 15 lakh, the actual number of students rose to 18 lakh. The infrastructure of the schools has also been upgraded by our education department. Despite the obstacles erected by the Centre and succeeding LGs, the deputy chief minister said that the AAP government had completed all work in the education department over the previous seven years.
“I would want to ask you to support rather than block the work of the Delhi administration for the benefit of the children of Delhi in the future. You are charged by the Constitution with upholding the law and order in Delhi. You should let us finish our task so that you can use your time to make the city’s law and order better “To Mr. Saxena, he wrote.
The deputy chief minister claimed that the AAP administration has finished all work in the education department over the preceding seven years notwithstanding the barriers thrown up by the Centre and successive LGs.
“For the benefit of Delhi’s future generations of children, I would like to request that you support rather than oppose the work of the Delhi administration. The Constitution gives you responsibility for maintaining Delhi’s law and order. We should be allowed to do our duty so that you can spend your time improving the law and order in the city.” He wrote a letter to Mr. Saxena.
According to Mr. Bharadwaj, even the poorest of children have achieved academic success while attending government schools in Delhi.
