Punjab Government To Name Schools After Martyrs, Freedom Fighters

CHANDIGARH: According to Punjab’s school education minister, Harjot Singh Bains, government schools would be given names honouring martyrs and liberation fighters. He explained that resolutions for school renaming had been requested from village panchayats and school administration committees.

The minister stated in a statement that they will deliver the same to the state headquarters through principals within the following month along with biographical notes on the martyrs and freedom fighters. According to Bains, the decision was made so that upcoming generations will be aware of the national sacrifices made by martyrs and liberation warriors.
