School jobs scam: After Partha, ED arrests another Trinamool MLA
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has been looking into money trails in the school jobs scam, arrested another Trinamool Congress MLA and former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) Manik Bhattacharya in the early hours of Tuesday after nightlong questioning, according to agency sources. The ED also arrested former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee in July.
Bhattacharya was detained, according to their claims, for allegedly refusing to assist with the inquiry.
Bhattacharya was detained early on Tuesday because he refused to cooperate with the investigation. Since Monday afternoon, he has been detained and interrogated. He also made an attempt to mislead the investigators, according to an ED officer.
